Terms of Service

Terms governing use of the MDConvert PDF-to-Markdown service
Jul 28, 2026

Effective date: July 28, 2026

1. Acceptance

These Terms govern your use of MDConvert's website, PDF-to-Markdown conversion, accounts, credits, subscriptions, APIs, and related services. By using MDConvert, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. The service

MDConvert converts supported PDF files into Markdown. Conversion quality depends on the PDF's text layer, layout, fonts, protection, scans, tables, and other document characteristics. Results may contain omissions, formatting errors, or incorrect structure and must be reviewed before use.

File-size, batch, concurrency, processing-time, history, and other limits depend on your plan. Limits shown on the Pricing page form part of these Terms and may be enforced technically.

3. Accounts

Free conversion may be available without an account. Paid features require an account. You must provide accurate information, protect your credentials, and promptly report unauthorized use. You are responsible for activity performed through your account.

4. Your files and permissions

You retain your rights in files and conversion results. You grant us a limited, temporary permission to host, copy, process, and transmit them solely to operate, secure, and improve the service.

You represent that you have all rights and lawful authority needed to upload and convert each document. Do not submit confidential, regulated, copyrighted, or personal information unless you are authorized to process it and MDConvert is appropriate for that use.

5. Acceptable use

You may not:

  • upload unlawful, infringing, malicious, or unauthorized content;
  • use the service to violate privacy, intellectual-property, export, sanctions, or other laws;
  • introduce malware or attempt unauthorized access;
  • bypass quotas, payment, authentication, rate limits, or security controls;
  • overload, scrape, reverse engineer, resell, or automate the service except through an authorized API or agreement;
  • interfere with other users or the operation of MDConvert.

We may block files, jobs, accounts, or traffic that create security, legal, or operational risk.

6. Credits and processing charges

Unless otherwise shown at checkout:

  • a successful conversion consumes one credit for each started minute of processing;
  • a failed conversion consumes zero credits;
  • Credit Pack credits do not expire;
  • Pro credits are granted for the applicable billing cycle and do not roll over unless expressly stated;
  • credits have no cash value and cannot be transferred between accounts.

Processing time is measured by our systems. Repeated or abusive submissions may be rejected even when credits remain.

7. Payments, subscriptions, cancellation, and refunds

Prices and included benefits are shown at checkout. Taxes and currency conversion may apply. Third-party payment processors handle payment information.

Subscriptions renew automatically for the stated billing period until canceled. Cancellation stops future renewal and normally takes effect at the end of the current paid period. Deleting an account does not necessarily cancel an active subscription.

Refunds are provided where required by law or expressly stated in a checkout or refund policy. Except where law requires otherwise, consumed credits and completed processing are non-refundable.

8. File availability

MDConvert is a conversion service, not a permanent backup service. Files and results may be deleted after the retention period for your plan. You are responsible for downloading results promptly and maintaining your own copies.

9. Intellectual property

MDConvert's software, design, branding, documentation, and service content are owned by us or our licensors. These Terms do not grant you ownership of the service or permission to copy its branding, source code, or proprietary materials.

10. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violations, nonpayment, fraud, security risk, legal requirements, or material harm to the service or others. Where practical, we will provide notice.

11. Service changes

We may modify features, supported documents, limits, prices, or infrastructure. We may discontinue a feature or service where reasonably necessary. Material changes affecting paid users will be communicated when practical.

12. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. MDConvert does not provide legal, compliance, archival, or professional-document review.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MDConvert and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, revenue, goodwill, or business opportunity. Our aggregate liability relating to the service will not exceed the amount you paid to MDConvert during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms by publishing a revised version and effective date. Material changes may be communicated through the service or account email. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
