How MDConvert handles PDF files, account data, payments, and service usage
Jul 28, 2026

Effective date: July 28, 2026

1. About this policy

This Privacy Policy explains how MDConvert ("MDConvert", "we", "us") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use our PDF-to-Markdown conversion service, website, accounts, subscriptions, and credit packages.

2. Information we process

Files and conversion results

When you submit a PDF, we process the file, its name, size, type, conversion status, processing time, and generated Markdown. We use this information only to provide, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the conversion service.

Please do not upload documents you are not authorized to process, or documents containing unnecessary sensitive personal data.

Account information

If you create an account, we may process your name, email address, profile image, authentication provider, account identifiers, plan, credit balance, and conversion history. Free single-file conversion may be used without an account.

Payments

Payments are handled by Subotiz, our third-party payment processor. We receive transaction identifiers, product, amount, currency, payment status, subscription status, and limited billing details. We do not store complete payment-card numbers.

Usage and technical information

We may process IP address, browser and device information, language, timestamps, pages visited, conversion counts, error logs, security events, cookies, and an anonymous visitor identifier. We use this information for daily free limits, fraud prevention, reliability, analytics, and support.

3. How we use information

We process information to:

  • upload, convert, preview, and deliver PDF and Markdown files;
  • operate accounts, credits, subscriptions, billing, and conversion history;
  • enforce file, time, batch, concurrency, and daily usage limits;
  • detect abuse, protect users, and secure the service;
  • diagnose failed jobs and improve conversion quality and performance;
  • communicate about transactions, service changes, and support requests;
  • comply with applicable legal obligations.

4. File retention

Files are not intended as permanent document storage. Retention depends on the plan and operational needs:

  • Free conversion results are normally available for up to 24 hours;
  • Credit Pack history and results are normally available for up to 7 days;
  • Pro history and results are normally available for up to 30 days;
  • Enterprise retention may be agreed separately.

Temporary copies, failed uploads, logs, backups, or files subject to a legal or security hold may remain for a limited additional period. You should download results promptly and keep your own backup.

5. Service providers and disclosures

We may use infrastructure and service providers to operate MDConvert, including cloud object storage, database hosting, conversion workers, queue services, authentication, payment processing, email, monitoring, and analytics. These providers process information only as needed to perform services for us.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, to investigate abuse, or as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets. We do not sell uploaded document contents or personal information.

6. Cookies and local identifiers

We use cookies or similar storage for authentication, language and theme preferences, security, checkout continuity, and anonymous free-usage limits. Disabling essential cookies may prevent parts of the service from working.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including access controls, private object storage, short-lived signed upload and download links, and restricted worker endpoints. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

8. International processing

Our providers and infrastructure may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

9. Your choices and rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or obtain a copy of personal information. You may also cancel a subscription and delete or request deletion of your account, subject to legal, fraud-prevention, and transaction-record obligations.

10. Children

MDConvert is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum digital-consent age in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Changes

We may update this policy as the service changes. We will publish the revised version and update the effective date. Material changes may be communicated through the service or account email.

12. Contact

Questions or privacy requests may be sent to [email protected].
